The newly-built Chengdu-Guiyang Railway Leshan-Guiyang Section starts from Leshan City in Sichuan Province in the west, and extends eastward through Qianwei County, Yibin City, Changning County, Xingwen County in Sichuan Province, Weixin County and Zhenxiong County in Yunnan Province, Bijie City, Dafang County, and Qianxi County in Guizhou Province, before reaching Guiyang City in the east. The main line from Leshan (inclusive) to Baiyun (exclusive) spans a total length of 515.02km, including 258.577km within Sichuan Province, 79.299km within Yunnan Province, and 177.144km within Guizhou Province. The total number of main line bridges on the left track of the entire section is 474, with a total length of 178.216km, accounting for 34.6% of the total line length. There are 189 newly-built tunnels (including open-cut tunnels) with a total extension of 241.415km, accounting for 46.9% of the total line length. The total length of bridges and tunnels on the left track of the entire section is 419.631km, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of 81.5%. The length of the main line subgrade is 95.389km, accounting for 18.5% of the total line length. 
 The entire line will feature 15 stations, including Leshan (jointly established with Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan), Qianwei, Nixi, Pingshan, Yibin East, Changning, Xingwen Shihai, Xinjie, Weixin, Zhenxiong, Bijie, Dafang, Qianxi, Weicheng North, and Baiyun (jointly established with Guizhou-Guangzhou Ring Line) (Guiyang North Station is jointly established with Guizhou-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, excluding Guiyang East). The railway is classified as a passenger dedicated line, with dual tracks, electric traction, and a design speed of 250km/h. The total construction period of the project is 72 months, with completion expected in December 2019 (including 6 months for joint commissioning and testing).
